Columbia State’s Pryor Art Gallery to Host Viva NashVegas Radio Show
Columbia State Community College’s Pryor Art Gallery is excited to now host the “Viva NashVegas” radio show, a program featuring country music singer, entertainer and DJ, George Hamilton V., with the next show open to the public on July 16 from 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
“Several months ago, George and I started talking about broadcasting “Viva NashVegas” from the Pryor Gallery on the Columbia Campus of Columbia State,” said Rusty Summerville, Pryor Art Gallery interim curator. “One thing led to another, and soon we had the approval of the college administration and now…here we are.”
The radio show was first broadcast in Nashville before moving to Franklin. Today, the show appears on WKRM's "Front Porch Radio." The show recently celebrated its 10th Anniversary Show live from the Pryor Art Gallery along with a special exhibit of photographs by Jimmy Moore, a past “Viva NashVegas” guest and country music photographer featured in the Ken Burns PBS documentary "Country Music."
“Viva NashVegas,” is a fun-filled radio show filled with George Hamilton V. and his free-wheeling cast of cool country characters pickin’, grinnin’ and spinnin’ tall tales of country life,” Summerville said. “As George says, ‘Y’all come down and remember, twang’s the thang!’”
The show and exhibit are free and open to the public. The Pryor Art Gallery is in the Waymon L. Hickman Building on the Columbia Campus located at 1665 Hampshire Pike and is open Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. For additional information about this exhibit, please visit www.ColumbiaState.edu/PryorGallery.
