Columbia State Recognizes Student Honors and Awards Recipients

(COLUMBIA, Tenn. June 18, 2020) - - -More than 100 Columbia State Community College students received honors for excellence in academics, leadership and service for the 2019-2020 academic year.

Bedford County: Rebecca Bobo (Unionville) received an Academic Excellence Award for maintaining a 3.9-4.0 GPA; Rickee Carter (Unionville) received a TCCAA All-Academic Athletic Women’s Soccer Award; Victoria Jaggers (Shelbyville) received the Academic Discipline Award in Human Anatomy and Physiology; and Lori Pierce (Shelbyville) received an Academic Excellence Award for maintaining a 3.9-4.0 GPA. 

Crenshaw County (AL): Anessa Scalf (Brantley) was recognized as the Lawrence Campus Representative for Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and as a TRiO graduate.

Davidson County: Johnah Anding (Nashville) was honored for her efforts as a senator for the Student Government Association; Daniel Blomberg was recognized as a member of the All-USA Community and Junior College Academic Team and Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society vice president of scholarship; Nicolette Murray (Nashville) received an Academic Excellence Award for maintaining a 3.9-4.0 GPA; Alexander Ogle received an Academic Excellence Award for maintaining a 3.9-4.0 GPA and received the Academic Discipline Award in Physics; Amiee Sadler (Nashville) received the Academic Discipline Award in Sociology and was honored for her efforts as secretary/treasurer for the Student Government Association and president of Sigma Kappa Delta English Honor Society; Andrew Styron (Nashville) received an Academic Excellence Award for maintaining a 3.9-4.0 GPA; Dakota Villers (Nashville) received the Academic Discipline Award in Film Crew Technology and was recognized as a Carolyn Allred/Lewis Moore Outstanding Student Award nominee; David Wilson (Nashville) received a TCCAA All-Academic Athletic Men’s Baseball Award; and Dayton Woods (Old Hickory) received a TCCAA All-Academic Athletic Men’s Baseball Award.

Fayette (KY): Jaylin White (Lexington) received a TCCAA All-Academic Athletic Men’s Basketball Award.

Giles County:Madison Dobbs (Goodspring) received the Academic Discipline Award in Anesthesia Technology; Bryce Hagan (Pulaski) received an Academic Excellence Award for maintaining a 3.9-4.0 GPA; Callie Stone (Lynnville) received the Academic Discipline Award in Humanities and was honored for her efforts as a senator for the Student Government Association; Hannah Tate (Pulaski) was honored as a member of the Lambda Beta Honor Society; and Valissa White (Pulaski) was recognized as a TRiO graduate.

Hardin County:Kevin Bunch (Savannah) received an Academic Excellence Award for maintaining a 3.9-4.0 GPA.

Hickman County: Amanda Hudgins (Lyles) received an Academic Excellence Award for maintaining a 3.9-4.0 GPA; Renee Hurst (Only) received an Academic Excellence Award for maintaining a 3.9-4.0 GPA; and Kilah Mincy (Bon Aqua) received the Academic Discipline Award in Agriculture; Seth Rodriguez (Bon Aqua) received the Academic Discipline Award in Medical Laboratory Technology and received an Academic Excellence Award for maintaining a 3.9-4.0 GPA; and Joseph Ryan (Centerville) received the Academic Discipline Award in Emergency Medical Services.

Lawrence County: Lauren Coggin (Saint Joseph) received an Academic Excellence Award for maintaining a 3.9-4.0 GPA; Jase Collier (Summertown) received the Academic Discipline Award in Mass Communication and received an Academic Excellence Award for maintaining a 3.9-4.0 GPA; Jessica Dotta (Summertown) received an Academic Excellence Award for maintaining a 3.9-4.0 GPA; Benjamin Edwards (Lawrenceburg) was recognized as a Carolyn Allred/Lewis Moore Outstanding Student Award nominee and received the Leadership Award for the Lawrence Campus; Kaitlyn Galloway (Leoma) was honored for her efforts as a senator for the Student Government Association; Sarah Gillespie (Westpoint) received the Academic Discipline Award in Accounting; Julia Huntley (Leoma) received an Academic Excellence Award for maintaining a 3.9-4.0 GPA; Alex Isbell (Summertown) received an Academic Excellence Award for maintaining a 3.9-4.0 GPA; Tracy Kirby (Lawrenceburg) received the Academic Discipline Award in Medical Informatics; Caleb Kirschbaum (Lawrenceburg) was recognized as a TRiO graduate; Hayden Lee (Iron City) received a TCCAA All-Academic Athletic Softball Award; Baylee Nix (Leoma) received an Academic Excellence Award for maintaining a 3.9-4.0 GPA; Tiffany Slaton (Lawrenceburg) received the Academic Discipline Award in Business Management; Dakota Spears (Iron City) was recognized as a TRiO graduate; Bailey Urban (Loretto) was honored as a member of the Lambda Beta Honor Society; James Wilburn (Lawrenceburg) received an Academic Excellence Award for maintaining a 3.9-4.0 GPA; and Hateya Williams (Loretto) was recognized as a TRiO graduate.

Lewis County: Tia Runions (Hohenwald) received the Academic Discipline Award in Art. 

Lincoln County: Caroline Bonner (Petersburg) received the Leadership Award for the Lewisburg Campus.

Marshall County: Amy Bumpus (Lewisburg) received the Academic Discipline Award in Exercise Science; Jesse Caban (Lewisburg) received the Academic Discipline Award in Teaching K-5; Tracy Harris (Lewisburg) was honored for her efforts as a Student Government Association senator and was recognized as a TRiO graduate; Faith Kennedy (Chapel Hill) was honored for her efforts as a Student Government Association senator; Ashley Mertens (Lewisburg) received an Academic Excellence Award for maintaining a 3.9-4.0 GPA; Sherry Quach (Lewisburg) received the Academic Discipline Award in Teaching Pre K-3; Jasmine Runk (Chapel Hill) was honored for her efforts as Sigma Kappa Delta English Honor Society treasurer; Chenney Shelton (Lewisburg) received an Academic Excellence Award for maintaining a 3.9-4.0 GPA; Elijah Sterkel (Petersburg) received the Academic Discipline Award in Biology; and Elizabeth Taylor  received the Academic Discipline Award in English and received an Academic Excellence Award for maintaining a 3.9-4.0 GPA.

Maricopa County (AZ): Jordan Smith (Queen Creek) received an Academic Excellence Award for maintaining a 3.9-4.0 GPA 

Maury County:William Alley (Columbia) was recognized as a TRiO graduate; Macy Andrews (Columbia) received a TCCAA All-Academic Athletic Women’s Soccer Award; Andrew Bannister (Columbia) received the Academic Discipline Award in Business Administration; Christopher Bennington (Spring Hill) received an Academic Excellence Award for maintaining a 3.9-4.0 GPA; Tessa Cote (Mt. Pleasant) received the Academic Discipline Award in chemistry, was honored for his efforts as Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society vice president of fellowship and was recognized as a member of the All-USA Community and Junior College Academic Team; Corey Cummings (Columbia) received the Leadership Award for the Columbia Campus, was honored for her efforts as the Student Government Association president, Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society public relations secretary and Sigma Kappa Delta English Honor Society president; Evan Hildner (Mount Pleasant) received the Jo. Rutherford County: Elise Bakken (Smyrna) received an Academic Excellence Award for maintaining a 3.9-4.0 GPA; Julie Kimber (Christiana) received the Academic Discipline Award in Radiologic Technology and an Academic Excellence Award for maintaining a 3.9-4.0 GPA; and Jonathan Rathgeber was honored as a member of the Lambda Beta Honor Society. 

Tuscaloosa (AL): Brandon Johnson (Cottodale) received a TCCAA All-Academic Athletic Baseball Award.

Wayne County:Makenlee Hensley (Cypress Inn) received an Academic Excellence Award for maintaining a 3.9-4.0 GPA; Kylie Cross (Lutts) received the Leadership Award for the Clifton Campus; Joshua Goodwin (Waynesboro) was recognized as a TRiO graduate; and Kristyn Kephart (Lawrenceburg) was honored for her efforts as a senator for the Student Government Association.

Wilson County: Claire Sandoval (Mount Juliet) received the Academic Discipline Award in Respiratory Care.
