Health Care Training Courses Offered in October

(COLUMBIA, Tenn. - Sept. 30, 2014) - - - Columbia State Community College will host a variety of health care courses through the Center for Workforce Development during October.

The "Online Medical Transcription" program teaches and prepares students to transcribe recordings and create medical reports in order to prepare for a career as a medical transcriptionist. The 36-week course begins Oct. 13.

"Pharmacy Technician Certificate" is a popular medical certificate program that qualifies students for immediate employment in Tennessee's growing health care industry. The 50-hour course will take place Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. Oct. 14 through Dec. 2.

"Basic Life Support for the Health Care Provider" is a four-hour course that reviews basic life support and airway obstruction. Students will work with mannequins to practice and perfect skills. The course is set for Oct. 23 from 5:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. Additional classes will be available in November.

The "ICD10 Proficiency Assessment Prep" course has been designed for members of the American Academy of Professional Coders who must pass the ICD10CM Proficiency Assessment by Dec. 31, 2015 in order to maintain certification and for anyone who wants to prepare and demonstrate proficiency of the new code set. The course is set for Tuesday and Wednesday evenings from 5:30 - 9:30 p.m. Oct. 28 through Nov. 19.

All courses except "Online Medical Transcription" will take place at the Columbia Campus, located at 1665 Hampshire Pike.
