The Daily Herald and Columbia State Community College's Student Government Association are partnering to host debates Thursday, July 1, for candidates seeking to become Maury County's next mayor and sheriff.

Both debates will be held in the Ledbetter Auditorium on the Columbia campus. The debate between county mayoral candidates Jim Bailey and Michael Bennett will begin at 6 p.m.

The three candidates for the office of sheriff will take the stage at 7:15 p.m. Incumbent Enoch George is looking to hold off challengers Terry Potts and Luis Sweeney.
