FILM CREW STUDENTS COMPETE IN NASHVILLE 48-HOUR FILM PROJECT

(COLUMBIA, Tenn. - July 24, 2012) - - - Bleary-eyed team contestants from Columbia State Community College made the deadline of the Nashville 48-Hour Film Project as they submitted their film, which was written, scripted, cast, shot and edited in a 48-hour competition that ended July 15.
The Film Crew Technology group knew that they had to make the absolute best of the 48 hours they had to create their film and that they would be given a character, prop and line, which all had to be incorporated into the unknown film's plot.
The team was challenged to write a silent film incorporating Fritz or Frieda Sinclair, a gym teacher, a blender and the line, "We need to get going."
Columbia State found itself competing to create their film against 13 other divisional teams. The screening of all the films will take place on Wednesday, July 25 and Thursday, July26 from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. at Malco Smyrna Cinema, 100 Movie Row, Smyrna, Tenn. Should Columbia State win their division, they will advance to compete against the winners from three other divisions if they win within their division.
"The rainy weather was a challenge at first, but we actually were able to incorporate some of the rain into our script," notes one crew member. "It was a pretty crazy weekend of filming!"
The 12-month Film Crew Technology program at Columbia State's Williamson County campus is directed by Read Ridley. Students leave the program ready to enter the technical and mechanical end of film production with jobs in film and video. The program meets the California industry standard, training students in the art of the grip, electrical (lighting) and art departments. Students also gain experience in cinematography and non-linear editing using Final Cut Pro.
