Chris Henson Named Development Officer At Columbia State

(FRANKLIN, Tenn. - April 26, 2012) - - - Chris Henson joins Columbia State Community College as a development officer responsible for the college's annual fund, major and planned giving and special campaigns.

Henson comes to Columbia State from East Tennessee State University where he was the assistant athletic director for private giving for 12 years. While at ETSU, Henson successfully directed the Buccaneer Athletic Scholarship Association Annual Fund, the Letterwinners' Club and Buc Wild, the ETSU student organization. Henson also assumed major responsibility for the Athletic Facility Capital Campaign, resulting in the completion of the Summer-Taylor Soccer Stadium, Betty Basler Softball Stadium and the initial work for the Thomas Baseball Stadium.

"We feel very fortunate to have recruited Chris to Columbia State," said Janet Smith, president of Columbia State. "He brings a depth of experience in the area of capital campaign activities as we turn our efforts toward the development of the new campus in Cool Springs and the many needs we have for student support and scholarship on each of our five campuses."

Henson earned his Bachelor of Science degree in sports medicine from Wingate University in North Carolina and his Master of Science degree in organizational leadership and management from University of North Carolina at Pembroke.

Henson, his wife, Heather and their daughter live in Franklin, Tenn.

Columbia State is a two-year college, serving a nine-county area in southern Middle Tennessee with locations in Columbia, Franklin, Lawrenceburg, Lewisburg and Clifton.
