Knit Happens Again!

Need Volunteer hours for Tennessee Promise or Tennessee Achieves? Stop by the Library to check-out supplies for these Volunteer opportunities: Hats for the Homeless - Learn to loom-knit hats and scarves for Westminster Presbyterian's homeless program, 'Room at the Inn'. Each Hat will earn you 3 hours and each scarf will earn you 6 hours. Blankets for Babies - Learn to use our new weaving looms to weave baby blankets for Maury Regional's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Each baby blanket will earn you 6 hours. Sewing for Students - Contribute a square to our community quilt which will be auctioned off by the Student Government Association (SGA). Each square will earn you 2 hours.

Stop by the second floor for how-to books and supplies for:

  • papercrafts
  • calligraphy
  • yarn arts
  • jewelry making
  • theatre games
  • embroidery
  • small sewing projects

Some materials can be checked out and utilized off campus.

The Maker Space will also have word games such as Scrabble in Spanish and English, poetry, memory and writing games.

Browse this collection of Columbia State authors with area and regional authors included.

A corner will feature print books in multiples and read aloud gathering will be scheduled to encourage group and buddy reading for students in learning support classes or students who would like to be reading mentors.

The library is also adding several graphic novels and modern texts to the collection.
